JAVIER
"Javier, what is this?" I slammed the trunk door and turned my head to see what Pa was talking about.
"Pa! That's just a poster."
"A poster of who? Who is this man?" Ma came over and looked down and over Pa's shoulder to look at the poster. They were starting to make a scene. The other freshmen students and their parents were getting a good look at the poster situation.
"Honey, why do you have a poster of a man? And is that smoke coming out of his mou-?"
"Yes Ma, he's a rapper, his name is ASAP Rocky. I'm a fan, I want to hang it up in my dorm."
"Rap? Oh, you kids today," Pa said and then grabbed a suitcase of my clothes. It was my first year of college and I was excited. I really couldn't wait to meet my roommates. There was going to be four of us in one room. We all texted each other near the end of summer vacation, but I don't know what these other niggas look like. I'm from Section 1 of Shoreview and I decided to stay home. My college was just a 5 minute drive from home.
"Are you excited to meet your roommates, Javier?" Ma asked.
"Yeah." All together we took some of my stuff and began to head for my dorm building. "I wonder if any of them are in there right now," I said mostly to myself. I lived on the 5th floor, there were 8 floors all together. This wasn't a huge campus, but a good size one. A pretty female walked passed me and out of the building. I was cheesing, Ma stared at the girl.
"This is coed?" I nodded. "You make sure you stay out of trou-"
"Yes Ma, I know." I was 18 now and I was tired of being babied. I now have some freedom being out here and away from home. I couldn't wait to meet some girls and hit up the parties.
Once on the 5th floor and out of the elevator, we proceeded to find my room number. The halls were crowded with new students moving in.
"What number-?"
"501," I said. I made it to the door before Ma and Pa. There was noise coming from the room and the door was slightly ajar. I pulled my bag up and over my shoulder to knock on the door. I heard it go quiet then I opened the door. My eyes landed on a young looking black woman then they traveled to the tall ass black guy. Like I said, I don't know what any of my roommates look like. All I know is that there are three of them and their names are Terrance, Kivon, and Jackson. The tall black guy stared at me and pointed.
"Javier?" He guessed. He likely only got that right because I look Latino and so is my name.
"Yeah, you?" I stook out my hand for a dap.
"Terrance," He replied and dapped me up. I looked for a bed to call my own.
"You tall, my nigga, you play sports?" Pa shook his head. The black female glared her eyes at me.
"Javier," Ma sighed, "how many times do I have to tell you to mind your language?"
"It's all good," Terrance said. "I play basketball."
"Hi, it's nice to meet you," Ma smiled and reached her hand out to the black female. "Are you Terrance's sister?"
"I'm his mother." I detected a stank attitude. Ma just politely smiled and nodded without any hold on Terrance's mother's hand.
"Hey, it looks like the gang's already here!" We all turn to the door to see a very enthused black man with his arms up. A woman beside him observed the room silently. She didn't look at any of us.
"It's going to start getting crowded in here," Terrance said. He had on a plain white tee and basketball gym shorts. I noticed the third dude slide into the room. He was brown skinned, had on a backwards cap with a denim, long sleeved, shirt on, jeans and some sneakers. He just looked around the room like his Ma.
"Hey wassup?" I offered. He looked at me and Terrance, then nodded.
"Terrance," Terrance introduced. This dude seemed too quiet so I wasn't sure about him.
"Javier."
"Kivon," he said and looked around at the beds. "I see ya picked out beds." I was surprised for second to hear him speak a whole sentence.
"Oh yeah, my nigga, pick which ever you want out of those two," I pointed towards the last two remaining beds that were on the other side of the room. I liked Terrance so far the most so I was sticking with him. Kivon nodded and picked up one of his bags. I didn't realize that our parents were socializing. I noticed that Terrance's mom had a stank look on her face.
"What's up with ya ma, my nigga?" I asked. He just gave me a look that said 'nigga, don't worry about it, I'm used to this'.
"Listen here, bitch!" We both look over to Terrance's mom. His mom looked ugly pissed. Kivon's eyes were wide with shock. Terrance's mom was going off on Kivon's mom. "You ain't no better than me. I'm not your child! Don't you dare look down on me and roll your eyes. You ain't special just because you light skinned!"
"Mom, really," Terrance said in a calm, slightly irritated voice.
"Mind your business, Terrance," she said.
"Hey, you're not going to continue to talk to my wife like that," Kivon's dad said.
"You wanna make a bet?"
"Hey hey hey!" Pa intervened. "We are adults here! Our sons are at college, we are here for them."
"You're right. I don't want to argue with anyone," Kivon's dad said. He grabbed his wife and moved her away from Terrance's mom, who looked like she still wanted to go at it.
"Ya crazy," I said.
The fourth nigga didn't get here. The fourth bed was still bare. It was the first night and we had a busy day checking in and going to events around campus. We had a week before classes and this week marked Welcome Week. Events were going to be happening on campus so that we get adjusted and meet new people.
"I can't wait for the females, my nigga," I laughed. Terrance laughed and nodded. Kivon was across the room from us, looking and listening.
"I know, I saw a few cute ones," Terrance said. Kivon was quiet.
"Where you from?" I asked him. He looked up from studying his fingers.
"Right here," he said. I nodded.
"You real quiet, fam," Terrance said and I nodded. Kivon just shrugged.
"I'm just a calm, collected and laid back kind of guy. I ain't with that drama and I'm damn sure not with niggas that run their mouths too much." It was real quiet after that. I was feeling that nigga now.
It wasn't until the next day around 10 that Jackson showed up. I was out around campus with Terrance and Kivon. Kivon was cool for a quiet dude. We met some females and seen the upper class juniors and seniors. We went back to our dorm so that Kivon could get a drink from our mini fridge. That's when we ran into Jackson. He was unpacking his stuff. Aw hell. He was one of those pretty light skinned niggas. He had curly black hair with a backwards cap on, a plaid shirt, jeans, and sneakers. He had a bright ass smile. This nigga really thought he was smooth.
"What's up? I'm Jackson. I don't mean to be rude, the ride here was longer than I expected."
"It's all good, fam." We introduced ourselves and Jackson wanted to come out with us. He was a little talkative but I had no problem with that. So these are the niggas I'll be rooming with. Let the freshman year begin.
KIVON
I was exhausted. My Thursday classes didn't end until 8:50 at night. By the time I make it to my dorm it's 9:00. I was looking forward to hitting my head on the pillow. But I could already hear the music playing before I made it to the room. I sighed and rolled my eyes. So disrespectful. I just walked right in. Terrance wasn't here. Jackson wasn't here. So there was Javier in his bed with some muffled sounding girl. They were going at it.
"Damn, Kivon, what you want, my nigga?"
"To sleep," I said and took my books out of my bag with my back turned to him. I just hoped that he was strapped because that was the fourth or so girl he's had sex with since we got here. Terrance was all talk I could see but I could swear that Javier was out to fuck half the girls on campus.
"Kivon, just come back later, nigga!"
"Get the fuck out," I heard the girl say. I just exhaled, rolled my eyes, grabbed some of my stuff and bounced. I met a girl on campus my third day here. She was a cutie but I could tell she just wanted to friend me. It was already nearing the end of September. Her name was Stephani and I showed up to her dorm building. I got let in and went up to her room.
"He is so disgusting," Stephani was telling me about Javier. She was laying on her bed facing me, while I sat in her desk chair. Her roommate was already asleep.
"I mean that's him, I just let him do him."
"I understand that Kivon, but he lives in that room with three other guys."
"He's rude as fuck, I know," I said. Stephani exhaled and shook her head while running her fingers through her wet, long, curly hair. "So how was your day?" I couldn't help getting turned on by Stephani. She was a gorgeous girl that Javier couldn't bag. Her complexion was this deep tan looking brown skin, which I really liked. She had her legs and thighs exposed in her short shorts, with a tank top on with no bra. I'm starting to think it wasn't a good idea to have come here. I'm just torturing myself. She was curvy too for a skinny girl.
"My day was fine. One of my classes got cancelled, which is always awesome," she smiled the one million dollar smile that I fell for. Stephani was a freshman just like me. "How about you?" I shrugged.
"It was alright. It was a long ass day though. I hate Thursdays."
"Awww, I'm sorry to hear that." There came a knock at the door. I watched Stephani's ass jiggle in her pj shorts as she went to go answer her door. It was her friend Kina.
"Girl, where have you been?" Kina asked.
"Chillin' on my bed, what's up?"
"Girl, Givante' is having a get together at his dorm." I rolled my eyes. Stephani's girls always talked about him. I wished she didn't lower herself to such groupie status. All the girls were gaga about Givante'. He's a junior and a AKA member. The AKA were one of the black fraternities on campus and the highest ranking in popularity. I'm not into all that. I watched as Stephani perked up. I knew she wanted him just like ever other black, mixed, or other girl. I shook my head and stood up."I just need to get ready."
"Steph, hurry." I walked to the door, finding my way out. "Hey Kivon," Kina said nonchalantly. I nodded and turned back to Stephani who had moved to her closet.
"I'll see you tomorrow, Stephani," I said. She turned to me with a friendly smile.
"Okay, see you."
When I got back to the dorm Javier was sleeping by himself and Terrance looked to be doing homework.
"What's up, Kivon?" Terrance asked not looking up at me. I studied Javier's sleeping body. I heard Terrance laugh. He was watching me.
"Just forget about it, fam."
"At the end of the day he's not going to listen to me," I said and started taking off my light jacket.
"He's not trying to listen to nobody. I don't even bother."
"How was practice?" He shrugged.
"I'm sore as fuck." I laughed. "Where's Jackson at tonight?"
"Don't nobody ever know."
I swear I couldn't go anywhere on campus without seeing the AKAs come through doing their little step/dance march routine. Everybody always got rowdy and cheery when they came through. It happened that Friday as I was eating my lunch in the student center in between classes. I was with Jackson and Javier. Javier stood up to get a better look.
"Those niggas be fresh, I'm telling you," Javier said with excitment. I probably looked like a hater, eating my mac and cheese. I noticed Jackson intently staring at them with a look in his eyes that was all too serious. He was staring....hard. I looked across the center and noticed Stephani with a few of her girls. They were staring at the AKAs like little girls all in love. Stephani looked cute in her jeans staring at some other dude. I looked back at the AKAs, specifically Givante'. He was a tall brown skinned guy with appealing facial features. He was sharp looking, but he never seemed to be conceited. He actually seemed like the quiet type.
"I'm pledging next year!" Javier said as he sat back down. I rolled my eyes. I got up and dumped my trash away. Around that time is when the AKAs stopped marching and drifted apart around the center. I noticed Givante' in his fraternity jacket walk pass Jackson with his head down looking at his phone. Jackson stared at Givante' the whole time. Kina was pushing Stephani towards Givante'. I wanted to watch but I had to get to class. It's not like I'm eager to see the girl I like flirt with the next dude.
TERRANCE
I was loving college life. Being away from home and being out of high school. I was having a good time. My teammates are cool and I got pretty good roommates. I just got out of my last class and the weekend for me has officially started. It was a Friday and my practice got cancelled, so I was defintely looking for a party.
"Nigga we getting fucked up tonight," Javier said. We remained the closest out of all four of us. I laughed.
"I've never gotten wasted, fam."
"Word?" He looked surprised. "Oh shit, then we defintely going out."
"I know there is a party on Franklin St. and Trenton Ave."
"We going to both, my nigga, so don't even sweat it."
"We riding along with Jackson or Kivon?" I asked as I looked for a dope outfit to wear later that night.
"Nah, nigga, I don't know about them. Jackson is a nigga that finds his own, I seen that nigga all over campus. And Kivon is a hating ass nigga. He steady always worried about me and my dick. I wish he would just fuck a bitch already. I mean he can have one of my leftovers." Javier busted out laughing. I shook my head and chuckled a little.
"You wrong, fam." I liked Kivon but I didn't want to come in the middle of them.
"It is what it is."
I decided to get some of my homework done before I went out in a few hours, and so that I wouldn't have much to do on the weekend. I was up in the computer lab when I spotted Kivon and Jackson coming in. Jackson looked all excited. I psst over at them and got their attention.
"What's good?" I asked as I looked back over at my school email. Kivon stood over us while Jackson sat on down at the computer next to me.
"The AKAs are throwing a party tonight!" Jackson said.
"We know how much Javier is going to love this," Kivon said sounding and looking so bored.
"What street?" I wonder if it was one of the streets I knew of.
"Trenton."
"Yep, I know where that is."
Javier didn't look too excited when we all left out. He really didn't want to be around Kivon and Jackson. He's being extreme and I hope he doesn't ruin our night.
"Have you talked to the AKAs about pledging?" Jackson asked Javier.
"Nah."
"Well here's your chance." We decided to walk at night to this party. We were just following everyone in front of us. This was a pretty dangerous area. Last week there were three robberies. The kids that were robbed went to our school. When we got to the house there were a bunch of people outside. Some girl walked by us with a guy all drunk and laughing. Once inside it was so hot and damp and the AKAs were performing again. They were shouting something that wasn't audible. Javier looked really interested as well as Jackson whereas Kivon looked elsewhere. I went over to him.
"What's up, fam? What you got against the AKAs?" He looked at me.
"I honestly don't give a damn about them," he said and walked away. I just shook my head. When I turned back around Jackson was gone and Javier found some girl to talk to. I hope he wasn't going to do this all night. I let him be and walked around. The place was small so there wasn't anywhere to go. I saw Jackson again. He was going up the stairs. I watched him curiously but someone came to my side throwing me off guard.
"The smell of this place is starting to get to me," Kivon said.
"Why you bitching?" Came from Javier. An ugly look came over Kivon's face.
"We not doing this here," I said.
"Don't talk to me like that, I'm only going to tell you once," Kivon warned. Javier pretended to be scared then ignored Kivon. Kivon walked out the door.
"Don't go back to campus, fam. We leaving together," I called out. Kivon waved his hand over his shoulder at me and continued walking.
"That nigga is starting to get to me. I can't stand his bitch ass. How long was he bitching to you?"
"He wasn't, Javier. He just said one little comment. Don't start a fight." Javier just shrugged.
"I'm about to find one of the AKA members," he said and went off. I guess I wasn't getting drunk tonight. Not here that is.
I was the observer that night. Some girls had came to talk to me because they knew I was on the basketball team, and I was polite to them. I was more interested in knowing what my roommates were doing. Javier hardly even hung out with me. He had gotten pretty close with the AKAs because he was always near one or more of them. I haven't seen Jackson since he went upstairs. I don't even know if he came down. And then Kivon was just everywhere mainly by himself. He's cool and all, but I still feel like I don't know or understand him. I decided to go upstairs to see what was happening up there. I don't know why, what more could be happening upstairs besides sex related things?
"Hey, Terrance," some girl said. I smiled at her and walked down the hall. It was surprisingly silent in some of the rooms, but one room grabbed my attention. It sounded like something was going on in there. I put my ear closer to the door and managed to hear a guy's voice and some moaning. Yep, knew it. But I was still listening when I noticed something didn't sound right. The moaning didn't sound like it was coming from a girl...
"Nig-gaaaaa!" A voice made me jump. It was Javier and he was obviously drunk. "Get back down here! The party's down here." I walked over to Javier.
"What did you drink?"
"Oh, just a few beers and some tequila!" I grabbed him before he fell down the stairs.
"You're enjoying yourself." I went back down the stairs with him.
JACKSON
I stumbled out the door of the party into the cooler night air. I rubbed my lips, smoothed my hair down and put my fitted back on. I pulled my shirt down more, growing a little self conscious. I considered walking back to the dorm because this night was over for me. I looked back into the house and saw Givante' talking with Fernando, another AKA member. Givante' glanced at me for a second then slowly looked back at Fernando. I slowly looked away also. I walked back in and passed him, just an inch away from his arm. I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a wine cooler that was unopened on the counter.
"I'm about to leave." I turned around and it was Kivon. I like him the most out of all of us. He was just a chill dude like me. Javier was loud and rude and Terrance was cool too.
"I'm ready to go too." Kivon nodded.
"I'm not waiting around for Javier. I don't even want to see his face again tonight, because I swear I'm going to punch him in his ribs." I laughed.
"What happened?" I licked and sucked on my lips, which is a habit of mines.
"He called me out for bitching, like come on. I was talking to Terrance, not his ass. He wasn't in the convo and obviously didn't get his facts straight. I told Terrance that it basically stinks in here and that's it." I was dying from laughing. Something was up with Javier.
"I honestly don't pay him any mind, he's irrelevant. Let's just tell Terrance we out and then bounce." I set the unopened wine cooler back down.
"I'm not looking for him, I'll text him though." We walked out as Kivon texted Terrance. I brushed past Givante' again on my way out. When we got outside we waited around for Terrance who texted Kivon right back. I was moving around and spotted most of the AKAs outside now. I noticed Javier talking and laughing with Samuel and Givante'. I stared then looked away. Terrance came from around the house to us.
"How about we go to the party on Franklin?" He asked.
"I'm done," I stretched. "I'm ready to go to sleep."
"And I'm not babysitting Javier," Kivon said. Terrance exhaled. He turned and found Javier.
"Jav! We leaving!" He shouted. Javier gave us a drunken look.
"My nigga Terrance!" Javier shouted. Kivon rolled his eyes. I laughed and sucked my lower lip, my elbows pointing outward and my hands behind my head. I caught Givante''s stare at me. I turned to Kivon and jerked my head indicating for us to bounce with my arms still up and hands behind my head. Kivon proceeded to walk away and I followed.
"Bitch ass niggas!" I heard him and I figured Kivon didn't until he unexpectantly pivoted around and marched back to Javier.
"Say that shit again, bitch! You AKA bitch!" Kivon shouted. I chuckled. Terrance held Kivon back. "I'mma fuck you up, roommate or not, motherfucker! I'm tired of your shit. Say that shit to my face weak, pussy ass nigga! You don't know me nigga!" Kivon was pissed! People were showing out to watch. I noticed that Javier stopped talking. Kivon was getting closer to Javier despite Terrance and me holding him back. He was like 8 inches away from him. "You quiet now. Ain't got shit to say huh? Where that mouth go? You better find somewhere else to sleep tonight, bitch, I ain't playing!"
"Kivon!" A females voice yelled. His friend, who I believe was Stephani, came up to him and was the one that got him to walk away. I pulled Terrance along. Javier was silent.
"Fuck that nigga," Kivon said calmly while sitting back in his desk chair. I was sitting up on my bed. Our room was always lite by these two lamps that gave the room a shadowy golden look. Terrance was laying down in bed, trying to go to sleep but also listening to us. "He can still be my roommate but I don't want him addressing me."
"He was calling you out for no reason," I stated. I didn't understand Javier. I knew he didn't like me since day one. He's one of those people that just judge right off the bat. If they don't like you from the get go then that's never going to change no matter what you do. He's a negative person and I'm glad I was never close to his ass. That morning was a Saturday. I got up early as well as Kivon. We had fallen asleep before Javier got in and he was knocked out cold now. Kivon payed Javier no mind. We got ready and left for the computer lab to do homework.
"Stephani's your friend right? Or is she your girl?" I asked just for starting a convo.
"A friend," was simply what he said. He went to work on his Spanish homework.
"But you like her, right? She's cute." Kivon shook his head.
"She wants Givante', like they all do." I stared at him for a full minute, taking in his response.
"I'm sure he doesn't want her, or any of those girls." I looked down and bit down on my lower lip. "Pay Givante' no mind," I continued. "If you like Stephani then make her see that. Trust me, Givante' don't want no girl...a freshman girl," I said the last part quickly, but Kivon didn't seem to notice. Kivon looked to be thinking.
Nothing was happening Saturday and I hated spending my time in the dorm room. I only went in there to sleep. So I went into the library and found a comfortable chair where I just laid back and listened to my ipod. I closed my eyes for a few minutes. When I opened them I spotted Givante'. I sucked my teeth and sat up. I was taking my headphones off when I noticed him looking at me. I got up and went to the elevator. The elevator took me to the seventh floor where it was quiet and there were a lot of tall book shelves. I went towards the back and leaned against the wall. I brushed at my dark jeans, I sucked on my lower lip, I readjusted my fitted cap. Three minutes. I started to make small steps, just looking at the books on the shelves.
"Hey," a quiet voice said. I was familiar with it and didn't turn around too quickly to see the person. Givante' came closer to me and looked at what I was looking at. I turned to face him. My hands went to the front of his flannel and my fingers undid the first button. His mouth was on mines before I knew it.
KIVON
I had walked back to the dorm after studying with Jackson. Javier was the only one in the room. He was shirtless and turned his head my way when I came in. I payed him no mind. What roommate calls you out and disrespects you in front of a group of people? He can kiss my ass. I took my books out of my bag and put my headphones on. Leaving my book bag by my bed, I headed back out the room.
Stephani played volleyball. She had a game that afternoon and I went to go see. I remembered Jackson's words and wondered if I should just step to her. I feel like I don't even know how, since I've been her friend this whole time. Watching her wasn't helping. I was getting a hard on. I sighed and looked away.
"Waddup?" I looked to my right and there was Jackson sliding on the bleacher seat to me.
"Hey, nothing much we were only chillin' a couple hours ago." He laughed. My eyes landed back on Stephani, just in time to see her bent over, her ass all in my view.
"She busting it wide open for a nigga," Jackson said as he stretched and I chuckled. I put my head in my hands and shook it. This sudden burst of confidence came within me and I was determined to make a try for Stephani. Jackson came and went, he left 10 minutes after he came in. I sat for the whole game. After it was over I waited outside the locker room for Stephani. They had won so that would be my opener.
"Congratulations!" I said behind her as she walked out into the hall. She jumped a little but smiled.
"Thank you, Kivon." I gave her a hug. "Oh no, I stink and I'm sweaty," she said as she pulled away.
"You smell fine to me." She smiled.
"Thanks, I'm heading back to my dorm, we should hang."
"Sounds like a plan, I'll walk you." I'm such a gentlemen that she has to go for me. I just wish I would have been up front from the get go. We've only been friends for almost a month, so I haven't been in the friend zone for too long.
Once again she was making me hard. I was left outside in her room as she was taking a shower. I was picturing her naked with the body wash just--shit, let me stop. After her shower she came in her room dripping wet with just a towel on. I stood up.
"Looking good," I said. She looked shocked and amused when I said that. She even looked to have blushed a little.
"Kivon," was all she said and laughed.
"Aiight, I'mma be outside while you get dressed."
We went to Popeye's which is what she wanted.
"I'm starving!" She said.
"You came to the wrong place. A bucket of shrimps, fries, and a biscuit ain't going to do it." She cracked up laughing.
"I'm a girl and I'm tiny, it will fill me up," she said.
"True." We ordered and found a seat by the window to eat. It was starting to get dark early already. "It feels like summer had just started yesterday, but we're already well into college." Stephani's eyes perked open and her eyebrows flew up in agreement as she chewed on her piece of chicken.
"I know! I remember being in high school and now here I am."
"Where are you coming from again?"
"Section 3, you?"
"Right here," I answer. She nodded. At one point as I was staring out the window, I caught her looking at me.
"What?" I ask. She shakes her head. "No tell me," I smile. She smiles back and shakes her head. I stand up and try to tickle her. "Tell me." She laughes.
"It's nothing." I realize that we are drawing attention so I stop, but she continues to laugh.
Once back in her dorm we chill out on her bed with only her desk lamp on. We talked more about each other.
"I'm glad you spent your time after your game with me," I say.
"It's no problem, we're friends." That didn't just sting a little. I sat up some. I looked at Stephani and she was staring back at me. I decided to take the chance and I leaned over and kissed her. Just like I imaged, those lips were just too perfect.
"Kivon." I didn't even notice when she broke the kiss. I looked at her, with her head down, biting on her lower lip. I sighed and rubbed my eyes. Well that was it then. I got up to leave but heard her call my name. I turned back to face her. She was looking at me. "I'm sorry, but it's just that--"
"It's just that you'd rather chase after a nigga who doesn't notice you. I get it." And with that I left.
JAVIER
"You promise me you'll be quiet?"
"Anything, papi." I licked my lips all smoothly.
"I hope you ready."
"You know it."
"Alright." I couldn't help that every week I was pulling bad bitches, and I'm only in my freshman year. Niggas like Kivon are going to hate regardless, not much I can do about that. Celia was tonight's meal. I took her back to my room and everything looked clear.
"Damn, how many niggas stay in here?" She asked.
"Stop being nosy and get ya ass in bed," I pointed to mine and moved her along over there. I got tired of hearing these niggas complaining, so I'm doing them a favor by speeding this process up. I watched Celia strip to her red bra.
"You like?"
"No doubt." And at that exact moment Kivon just happened to walk in. Just my fucking luck. This nigga's face alone pisses me off. Celia shrieked and covered herself. "Can you leave us for the night?" I asked as politely as I could.
"I'm not in the mood right not," he said and went on to his side of the room as if he did not smell pussy in the air.
"You for real, my nigga?"
"Yes I'm real! I don't want to be bothered. So take your bitch and both of ya get the fuck out." I saw red. I just couldn't with him. I ran across the room and tackled him onto his bed. I punched at his head but this nigga was ready to go and was hitting me back. He caught my jaw which made me stumble back but I only came back at him. There was a screaming that pissed me off even more. Then we were on the ground tossing and turning still trying to get punches in.
"Bitch ass, getting-no-pussy-ass nigga!" I shouted. He was shouting at me too but I didn't need to listen, cause everything else about this nigga pisses me off.
"Yo! What the hell is going on?!" I happen to hear and then hands are pulling me off him.
"Let me go! I'mma kill this nigga!" I screamed.
"Calm down, Jav." I was panting and couldn't even think straight. It was Terrance who was trying to calm me down. I was pushed from behind into my desk. I turned around and it was Kivon. I charged at him but Terrance held me back. I screamed at the top of my lungs.
"AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! LET ME GO!!!!! IM GONNA FUCKING BODY THIS NIGGA!!!!!!!!"
"What the fuck?" I heard another voice but I was trying to get at Kivon.
"Ya niggas can't live together. I can't live with ya like this," Jackson appeared.
"It ain't my fault! This nigga is a horny psycho who can't zip it for shit!!!" Kivon said. "You charge at me again nigga and we'll see who bodies who first."
"This shit is ridiculous, I gotta sleep," Jackson said. Terrance was still holding me back. I tried to calm down.
"I'm good," I said.
"You sure?" Everyone in the room asked. Kivon stripped off his shirt and jeans and then rolled into his bed. I exhaled. It wasn't over.
By the next morning, I realized that I really don't want to get a new room. I do like my room and Terrance is my boy. I really don't mind ignoring Kivon, but then I see his face and when he speaks.... I just go off on the nigga. He's not going to make me move out. It was a Sunday and I gave into doing my studies. I was just at my desk writing up a paper response at 10 in the morning.
"I think we need to have a sit down and talk," I heard Terrance say behind me. I turned around and saw that he was standing over my shoulder a few inches away. Jackson was sitting up in bed yawning and Kivon had just rolled over to face us. I looked back at Terrance.
"I'm just going to speak out and say what happened last night was ridiculous and uncalled for. Good thing it was me that showed up and not the R.A. or something." The R.A. was a little cutie and I been tried to get that, she know she wants me. She probably doesn't want to get with a freshman. I can change her mind though. Dick is dick. Damn, I wasn't listening to a thing Terrance said until Kivon opened his mouth.
"I just want some respect when I come in. I don't want to hear some chick moaning, not at some late hours. It's inconsiderate. And I'm not the only one up in here not bringing girls back here. Jackson and you, Terrance, don't. It's just you." And that nigga pointed at me.
"Get ya finger out of my direction, nigga," I said. "It's a Sunday and I'm trying to do my studies. I hardly bring back bitches like I used to cause all ya niggas be scaring them away. So ya don't have nothing to worry about." With that I went back to work.
"Yeah, okay, we'll see," Kivon had to say.
"I hope ya niggas don't think the income of bitches in here is going to stop? I'm sorry that I'm a man who loves pussy and ya just niggas that want to beat your meats off together or to some girl ya ain't got the balls to talk to." These niggas don't make sense. They all were silent. "Word, cuz." I looked at my textbook.
"I'm just fed up," Jackson spoke up. "This is why I never be in here."
"And I wish your boy over there would do the same," I indicated to Kivon.
"You can kiss my ass with that, bitch. This my room too."
"It's funny how all of a sudden you got a mouth but weeks ago you weren't flapping about shit," I said.
"Can ya just shut the fuck up for a few minutes? Damn!" Terrance said.
"I'm done. Been done," I said.
"You ready to bounce?" Kivon asked Jackson who yawned and nodded in response. They left a couple of minutes later.
"Those niggas gay. They spend every day of every second together," I said to Terrance. He just stared at me.
JACKSON
I've been seeing Givante' on the low ever since Greek night, before classes even started. I was in the gymnasium with Kivon and we were just checking out the fraternities when I caught the eye of Givante'. He just kept staring at me. After him and his frat brothers did their dance he came up to me and asked if I was enjoying my time and interested in joining the brotherhood. I wasn't but he was cute, I originally have a thing for the boys. So for the past three weeks we've been seeing each other. Nobody knows about him, and he says he's not interested in the girls that flock after him. I tried to push Kivon more towards Stephani, because it's pointless for her to want Givante'. But Kivon is telling me how that didn't go so well. Well, she'll learn.
"She really likes you, I guess," I said as I layed on Givante''s bed. He was standing over his desk in just khaki shorts looking at his laptop.
"That Stephani girl?"
"Yeah." I watched him shrug.
"She ain't the only one. I'm surprised none of them haven't realized that I might be gay."
"I think my roommate thinks me and Kivon are gay."
"He ain't too far off." I laughed. Givante' came over and laid next to me on his bed. I swirled my finger around his goatee. I was on my back and he was on his stomach. He looked at me with his clear brown eyes and leaned down to kiss me. I put in some tongue. We were in full liplock on his bed. I had pretty strong feelings for Givante'. When I first met him I honestly thought he was just going to be this cocky AKA nigga. But he turned out not to be cocky at all but more reserved and genuine. When a startling knock came on the door Givante' flew away from the bed and to his desk chair to get his t-shirt.
"Yo," he said and I sat up. The door opened and it was Marquis. Givante' lived off campus in his fraternity house. There were about 10 of these niggas living here. Marquis peeped me and stared for a second. Givante', with his t-shirt back on, looked from Marquis to me to Marquis again. "What's up?" Givante' asked. I've been around often but I don't know these guys at all. They're probably wondering who I was and why I'm always here...alone with Givante'.
"We barbequing outside, fam," he said and patted Givante' on the shoulder.
"Aiight." Marquis ignored me and walked out.
"You going to it?" I asked. He walked over to his door to close and lock it. He came back into the bed and laid next to me.
"Nah, I'm about to take a nap." He patted the bed for me to lay down. I did and we napped together.
"Kivon, will you please talk to me," Stephani stood over our table in the student food court. I was eating with Kivon during a break between classes. Kivon was straight up ignoring her. I really wanted him to draw her away from Givante'. I didn't want her to get her feelings hurt. "Please, Kivon?" She looked really hurt. Kivon just went on with eating his fries. "Kivo-"
"I ain't got nothing to say to you Stephani! Ya man's right there," Kivon pointed to Givante', who was talking to two of his fraternity brothers. Stephani didn't even turn her head. She had a staring contest with Kivon, who stared right back at her. Eventually she gave up and walked away.
"You should talk to her," I started and Kivon looked at me. "Maybe she wasn't aware of the feelings she had for you until now." Kivon looked back at Stephani who was standing a few tables away texting away on her phone. Kivon and I both heard his phone vibrate. I watched him read his message.
"She texted me," he said.
"Damn, folk. You got that," I reassured him. He stared at me then got up to throw out his trash and walk over to Stephani. I watched as she looked to be begging to him. He cut her begging short by putting his arms around her neck in an embrace, and she hugged him back.
"Are you visiting this weekend?" My sister asked me over the phone. It was night time and I was chillin on my bed talking to her. Our room always had this shadowy look to it because the only lights we kept on were these two desk lamps, that gave off a dark yellow, gold light. I turned over from my back to my stomach.
"I might, I'm not far from home." My sister, Janesis, is two years older that me. She never went to college because she got pregnant in her senior year of high school. So she lives in a new apartment with her boyfriend.
"You better visit. I haven't seen my little bro since August."
"I know, I know. I don't got anything else better to do, so I'm likely going to come. Will Chris be able to pick me up?"
"I'll get you, he can watch Priscina."
"I can't wait to see her too," I cheesed. I heard a mild sounding bang and looked to the door. It was Javier and he was stumbling into the room. What the fuck? "I'mma talk to you tomorrow, it's getting late. Tell Priscina and Chris I said 'hi'. Goodnight." She said goodnight and then I hung up and swung my legs over the edge of the bed. I sat there with my palms on either side of my legs on the bed, watching Javier.
"It's a Wednesday night," I said.
"I know nigga, what the fuck you telling me for?" I'm hardly ever a serious person but since living in this dorm with him I feel that he makes me this serious person. He's obviously drunk on a Wednesday night, and for what?
"Listen, I have classes tomorrow so don--what are you doing?" He wasn't listening to me and had moved onto Kivon's side of the bed. He started messing with his sheets. For real? I hoped out of bed and moved him away from Kivon's stuff. He was really persistent and tried to get at it. "Really, Javier, I don't want to go through this with you tonight." He was trying to shove my arm away, not even paying me any mind, just wanting to get at Kivon's stuff. "Javier! Listen to me!" He wasn't and his touching me was really pissing me off. I grabbed my phone from my bed and called Kivon. I grabbed onto Javier's shirt and pulled him away. He in return was pulling Kivon's sheets off his bed.
"What's up?" Kivon said over the line.
"It's Javier, he's fucking with your shit," I said. Javier was moving back towards the bed while I was trying to pull him back.
"Fuck! I'm on my way."
TERRANCE
Once practice was over I really wasn't in any rush to get back to my dorm. But I had nothing else to do on a Wednesday night except shower, do some homework, and go to bed. Sounded like a plan. I'm getting to my building the same time as my floor R.A., Tameka.
"Hey Terrance," she said.
"Hey." We walked inside the building and she turned to me.
"Do you mind if I speak to you for a little bit? It's nothing too serious."
"Sure." My guess was that it was about me and my roommates. I followed her to her room on our floor. Things were pretty quiet which was a good sign. She pulled up a small chair that I sat in while she sat in her desk chair. She turned to me. I was sitting pretty low while her chair was more high up so she had to look down at me. I noticed that she was wearing fake eye glasses, the stylish and nerdy kind. She was really cute.
"So some people on the hall have been telling me that there has been some disturbances in your room? Is there an issue?" I looked down and licked my lips, contemplating what to say.
"It's just my two roommates don't get along. But we sort of had a meeting and talked about it. I mean they're still not cool with each other, but I don't think there should be any more disturbances."
"You sure? Cause if it's a problem then it needs to be solved because there are other people living on the floor."
"Yeah, it should be cool. We do communicate." She smiled.
"Okay, but let me know anything different. I try to be here to keep the peace but I'm a student with classes too."
"I understand," I replied. I stood up and closed her door on my way out. It was pretty quiet so I figured that tonight was one of those good nights. That was all shot out the window when I opened the door to my room. I immediately closed the door so that Tameka or anybody else wouldn't hear. Kivon had Javier in a chokehold. I was really starting to get fed up. "Are you fucking kidding me?!" Jackson was having a hard time pulling them apart so I moved in and helped. Kivon was always the easy one to pull away, but Javier started cussing and shouting and trying to get back at Kivon. Who just stood there shaking his head. I shook Javier.
"What the fuck is wrong with you!" I was truly fed up with this childish shit. I can't hang with Javier because shit like this pisses me off. He stumbled away from me and made it to his bed where he collapsed.
"I'm sick and tired of this shit," Kivon said. "I'm not living for the rest of the semester with that shit over there." He pointed at Javier. Jackson was rubbing his face in fustration.
"And I was just talking to Tameka, because people on this floor are talking about us," I said and flipped Javier onto his stomach.
"What did you tell her? What did she say?" Jackson asked.
"She wanted to know if everything is okay. I told her about ya not getting along but that we hashed a little bit of it out and that things have been fine."
"They have. But come two or three days from now and this fucker is on a spree to piss me off!" Kivon said. Jackson stared at the floor. "He's gone. I'll talk to Tameka tomorrow," Kivon stated. I just might have to agree on that.
Javier didn't remember anything last night.
"You gonna remember this, you're out of here, for good," Kivon said. Javier just stared at Kivon with his hung over, bloodshot eyes. He was sitting up in bed. Kivon was standing up addressing him. Jackson laid in bed looking at us while I sat on my own.
"What the fuck is you talking about?"
"We all decided that we don't want to live with you. I'm not living with some little boy who can't hold his liquor or stop himself from touching my shit." Javier looked at all of us and especially me for the longest.
"Word, my migga?" He asked me. "Ain't we cool, Terrance?"
"Don't try to play that shit. It's over. You can pack your shit and move on to the next dorm."
"I'm not talking to you," Javier said to Kivon then turned back my way.
"I'm with that, fam. You been crazy, Jav, we don't want to live like that," I said.
"Get a single," Jackson said from over where he was. Javier looked at his finger nails. He got up out of bed.
"Ya can do your little bad girls club routine and "vote me to leave", but it's my room too and I'm not going anywhere."
"Then we'll just take it to Tameka and the R.D.," Jackson said.
"This for real," Kivon added. Javier looked pissed.
"Try it," he said and went to the bathroom. I didn't really want to handle the situation so I left it alone. Jackson and Kivon though, were pretty serious about it. When I got back to the room by the end of my last class his bed and side of the room was empty.
I saw a little of Javier. He never looked my way or said 'hi' to me. He ignored me. I always saw him with the AKAs. I always felt that they never gave a damn about him as he was trying to fit in. C'mon, you're a freshman. Me and some guys from my team went over to the fitness room on campus to play a game of basketball in the gym. I was having fun during the game and made a couple of baskets. Some of my upper teammates figured that I was really good and would likely get put on the court early by the coach. That left me elated. As we were packing up our stuff at the end of the game I heard another freshman bring up an interesting subject.
"What are you trying to say?" Timmy asked Damian.
"That he's gay. All his brothers know but they don't talk about it. I don't even think G knows that they know."
"Aiight, where you getting this info?" Timmy asked in disbelief.
"This other freshman who is like their bitch, always doing orders for them." I didn't even ask because I figured they were talking about Givante' and Javier. The night of that party has always been in the back of my mind. Could it have been Givante' in that room? It could have well been any guy, but if it was Givante' then who was the other guy? Just when I thought that Damien said, "They all think it's this guy that Givante' brings around, this real light skin dude, I can't think of his name but it starts with a J and he's a freshman." My eyes were bugging the fuck out. It couldn't be Javier but it seemed to match. He's light skin, always around AKA, and a feshman. But then again Javier came up the stairs drunk at the party when I saw him. Meaning he wasn't in that room. If I know this guy then my other guess is that it's Jackson. He already had known they were throwing the party, and he was the one I saw heading upstairs.
JACKSON
"Hey, faggot." I looked up and coming down the stairs was none other than Javier. I looked behind me to see if anyone was coming up the stairs. I looked back at Javier as he came down the stairs smirking at me. "Everybody knows about you and Givante'. I ain't got a problem with niggas that like dick. I just can't stand," he was on my step and in my face now, "when niggas like Givante' talk about girls sexually while behind closed doors fucking niggas like you." He finished and walked. I just watched him speechless. I didn't know if there was any truth in what Javier said, but I'm not going to disregard it. I was heading up to his room now. When I walked into his room I saw him chillin' on his bed with a grin on his face as he talked on his phone. I stood over him as I watched him. He chuckled and said into the phone, "I'll talk to you later." He hung up and looked at me. "What's up?" I licked my lips.
"Was that some girl?" He looked at me sideways then stood up. He's like 3 inches taller than me.
"What are you trying to say? What are you implying? That I got some girl?"
"Do you?" I shot back. He stared at me. I don't know if he thought I was being ridiculous or if he knew I caught him. I finally noticed him blink and he looked really calm.
"Why would I have a girl?" He asked so calmly and seriously. "I can't remember when I actually had a girl. Maybe it's because I'm gay and I thought you knew this, Jackson. What else are you hearing?" I sighed and sat on his bed.
"My ex-roommate is making my life hell." He sat down next to me.
"Wait, Javier?" I nodded. "He's annoying as hell."
"Tell me about it, man."
"Don't pay him any attention because that's what he wants. My brothers are always saying some shit about him. He's no one," Givante' rolled his eyes. I reached for his hand and held it. He held my hand to his lips and kissed the back of it. I leaned over and kissed around his earlobe. He was ticklish there, so he was laughing and trying to get away from me. This just made me go at him more. He tried moving me to the side while I made smooching noises at him. Then he came back at me and pushed me down onto the bed. I was laughing so hard. I licked and rubbed my lips together as I stared up at him. He came down on me for a kiss. Our kissing rarely leads to nothing. It was getting intense and arousing me. Before Givante', I had only one boyfriend who I was on and off with since I was 16. This other guy was in my grade and we officially ended when I went away to school and he went away to school in Section 3. We don't even stay in touch. Givante' was kissing down my chest and started to unzip my jeans. I helped him take off my jeans then I proceeded to take off his shirt.
"I'll see you Sunday night," I told Kivon as I headed for the door. "Tell Terrance I said 'bye'."
"Aiight, man, see ya." My sister Janesis was parked in our dorm building parking lot. I came out to meet her and hopped in. I didn't live far from my school, it was a ten minute drive. Janesis knows that I like the school and that I'm doing well. She also knows a little about Givante'. She was the first person I told that I was gay when I was 14. She doesn't even care and is my best friend. I lived in a slightly good part of Section 1, but it did get bad at times. Once I made it into the apartment I was startled when my niece came running up to me.
"Jackieeeee!" I picked her up and hugged her.
For the rest of the weekend I didn't worry about any problems or had to deal with any Javiers. I was back to my smiling and chill self. I hung out with some old friends that I went to school with. Everything was good, then Sunday evening came. I was ready to go back, I knew I couldn't stay home for long.
"You look like you had a good weekend," Terrance said when I came in. I grinned
"It was good, I didn't have to worry about any drama."
"I might need to go home for a weekend," Kivon said.
I seen Givante' the next day between classes and he looked really serious and upset.
"What's wrong?" I asked as we walked to get something to eat.
"Javier has been really bothering me." We came to the student food court and sat at a clean table. "I mean he ain't nothing to me, but he's annoying as hell."
"He's just bothering you because you're with me. He doesn't like me or Kivon and will literally waste his time trying to destroy our lives." Givante' laughed and shook his head.
"That's some sad shit. I already had to tell him to fuck off many times. My brothers find him amusing though, but in a bitch way." I laughed.
"That's what he is."
Besides Javier managing to still piss us off individually, we were all happy, I guess. Kivon was with Stephani, me with Givante', and us roommates came to Terrance's practices here or there. If anything else personally was bothering them then they didn't let it show. On a Thursday night we were all in our dorm, without a fourth roommate. I was doing some Spanish homework, Terrance was watching videos on his lap top from his bed and Kivon was reading for homework. So far my homework hasn't been anything too complicated and I was pulling along some A's in two of my classes. But I had that one class where I swear the professor's grading is off because I answer my questions on assignments and test in a lot of writing and detail, yet I only get C's and plain B's.
"Jackson." I looked over to Terrance who called me.
"Yeah." Terrance looked at Kivon which made me look over at him.
"Uh, I really don't know how to address this, but since we're roommates I think it should be out in the open. Some of the players on my team have been saying that," Terrance paused and shifted. I'm just going to fill in his pause with a wild guess.
"That I'm gay." Kivon looked over at me then to Terrance then back to me.
"You are?" Kivon asked.
"Yeah."
"So then it's true about you and Givante'?" Terrance asked. I nodded. The room was silent.
KIVON
I cleared my throat. I honestly wouldn't have guessed that about him, but at the same time I'm not too shocked. I looked at Jackson go back to his work. It remained quiet for a while.
"Interesting, does Javier know that his beloved fraternity has a gay brother?" I realized how unnecessay a question it was after I asked.
"He thinks that Givante' is on the down low. Which is not true." I shook my head.
"He's a gossiping little bitch," I say.
"No comment," Terrance says and leans over to turn off the light on his side of the bed.
Midterms were here already so I been buckling down and studying like mad. Javier, though, has been acting like he has nothing to study for or has any classes because he is constantly fucking with me. With all of us. We just ignore him. There was a party on this Friday night and I really wanted to attend because all I've been doing is studying and taking midterms. Terrance and Jackson was coming out with me. It's starting to become evident at school that Javier is talking about Givante' and Jackson around campus. Which has backfired for him because the AKA brothers had drawn the line and Javier is no longer welcome to come over to their spot or pledge for them. The girls around campus seemed pretty upset but the guys respect Givante'. Stephani was indifferent to the situation because she was on my arm now. She came along with me to the party and Givannte' came with Jackson. Terrance was alone with us, but we didn't ask him about it. This party was some black party on the block. When we got there Remy Ma was playing.
"Ya drinking?" Jackson asked.
"Yeah," Terrance answered rather quickly. We all got some drinks and danced and had a good time. The party wasn't bad. Until....we noticed Javier show up with some girl. Stephani made a disgusted sound. Javier looked our way and shook his head at us as he walked by as if we were the wacker bunch.
"There better not be any problems, I'm really not trying to get into it with him," Terrance said.
"Don't pay him any attention," Jackson said.
Later in the night me and Stephani went and got a room. We just kissed and laid on the bed, me on my back and her on her stomach.
"If you think about it it's nasty that we are lying on some random bed."
"Well let's not think about it," I said. She giggled. I stared at the ceiling and could feel Stephani twirling her fingers around my ear.
"What are you thinking about?" She asked above a whisper. I didn't answer for a few seconds.
"I don't know what. Nothing really."
"Well then let's lock lips." She leaned over me and I smiled up at her.
When Stephani and I got back downstairs the party was still half going. I noticed that it didn't look as packed. And Jackson and Terrance were drunk. When we ran into them they were happy drunk and laughing. Givante' was right behind them talking to one of his fraternity brothers. I was ready to go, even though I felt like I haven't done much here.
"Ya ready to go?"
"To go?" Jackson asked me with squinting eyes. His face looked like a cross between bewilderment and confusion. And he dragged out the word 'go'. Terrance laughed.
"Ya are done, I'm not trying to babysit ya'll until ya throwing up," I said. Jackson pouted and turned to Givante'. He was telling him something. Then Givante' looked over Jackson to me and said, "I agree, Kivon."
"Nooooo," Jackson moaned. So we ended up leaving and walking back to campus. I was happy with everything, even though I know Javier will always be a bother.
TERRANCE
Basketball season was underway. My roommates came to all my games and our team was doing good. And just like my teammates predicted, the coach was putting me out on court. I don't want to be cocky, but I was always doing my thing and I was getting a good reputation.
I know I was the elephant in the room whenever I went on group dates with Kivon and Stephani and Jackson and Givante'. They don't say anything about it, but I'm not jealous of them or depressed that I don't have a girl. I just don't have a girl and I'm not thinking about having one right now.
"You getting the most 'A's out of all of us," Kivon said. The three of us were eating lunch together. Jackson laughed at what Kivon said.
"Truuuue, my ass is getting by though," Jackson said.
"I can't believe this semester is almost over," I said. We had all recently got back from Thanksgiving Break and had around two and a half weeks left.
"I know, man. It's crazy," Kivon said then ate a fry. The female AKAs started their step/dance in the cafeteria and we watched in silence.
"Is Stephani pledging for them?" Jackson asked.
"Yeah."
"That's cool." I look down at my food when I hear Kivon swear under his breath. When I looked up my eyes met Javier. He still bothers us to this day
"Wassup, bitch ass niggas?" He really came up to our table to harass us. Jackson rolled his eyes. Kivon studied him, hard.
"What is your problem? I'm being serious because your shit is getting old," Kivon says.
"Javier! What you doing?" Some guy called behind Javier. Javier held up his index finger to him. He turned back to us.
"Well I gots to get back to my real friends," he said this while staring at me.
"We were never friends," Jackson said, moving his hand from him to Javier, indicating both of them. Javier turned to Jackson.
"I wasn't talking about you, queen."
"You weren't friends with Terrance either. As much as you may think that," Kivon said. I looked down. I was tired of Javier. My first semester was almost over and I didn't want to keep seeing his face. I picked up my food and just got up to leave. I could feel their stares at my back. Javier didn't say anything, or maybe I was just zoning him and everything else out. Once I made it to the cafeteria exit I looked back behind me. There was Jackson and Kivon walking towards me.
"We outy," Kivon said.
JACKSON
And so the first semester ends. Man, did it fly by. December was here and by the 11th it was finals time. We all studied together, even Givante' and Stephani came to study with us. We all registered for classes next semester and we were still going to be roommates.
"I over heard that Javier wasn't coming back next semester because he wanted to take the semester off," Stephani notified us.
"Thank God," I said. We didn't need to see his face. So I was even more so looking forward to next semester. I looked over at Givante' and he was looking at me. Nothing was going to change between us.
"He ain't ready for this college life. He's immature, still in his high school phase. He'll grow up eventually. He just a late bloomer," Kivon said. We nodded in agreement.
Terrance was the first to go. He gave us dap. We were back in the room packing.
"See you lata fam," Terrance said to Kivon.
"Keep in touch," I called after him.
"No doubt." With that Terrance mom came with a stank look on her face as she observed our room. I looked at Kivon with a confused expression. He just laughed.
"That's right. You weren't here on the day we moved in. Don't pay her no mind," Kivon said and just shook his head. My sister came ten minutes later.
"All ready to go, bro?" I hoped out of my desk chair. Kivon was sitting on his bed and reached out to me. We gave each other a short hug.
"See ya lata," he said.
"I'll text you." He nodded. We were the closest two here. I spent most of my days with him or Givante'. My sister helped me carry my luggage to her car.
"You going to mom and dad's?" She asked as I slid into the passenger's seat.
"Yeah."
"Did you check out and everything?"
"Yep."
"Ok then, let's go."
